How This Works
Everything you might wonder about, in plain language. Not answered here? Email support@trellisvirtualcinema.com. A real person reads and answers every message.
Getting in
How do I sign in?
Go to Account (or press Watch on the film's page) and enter the email address you used at checkout. We'll email you a short one-time code. Type it in and you're in. There's nothing to install and nothing to remember.
Is there a password?
No. There's no password to create, forget or reset. Each time you sign in on a new device, we email you a fresh code.
My sign-in code hasn't arrived
- Give it a minute or two. Email sometimes dawdles.
- Check your spam, junk or promotions folder.
- Make sure you typed the same email address you used at checkout.
- Ask for a new code from the sign-in page.
If it still won't come, email support@trellisvirtualcinema.com and a real person will help you get in.
I think I typed my email wrong at checkout
It happens more than you'd think, and it's easy to fix. Your ticket is tied to the address you entered at checkout. If that address has a slip in it, the code can't reach you. Write to support@trellisvirtualcinema.com from the address you actually use, and tell us roughly when you paid. We'll move your ticket across.
Do I need to create an account first?
No. Just buy your ticket. Signing in later with the same email address finds it.
Can I watch on a different device from the one I bought on?
Yes. Sign in with the same email address on your laptop, phone or tablet, and your ticket is there.
Can I watch on more than one device at once?
Your ticket plays on one screen at a time. If you hit the limit, you'll see Watch here instead?. Press that to move the film to this screen, or stop the other screen and press play here.
Your ticket or rental
Where's my ticket?
Sign in and open Account. Your tickets, rentals and gifts are listed under Tickets, with the time you have left. When it's time to watch, a Watch button appears on the film's page.
How long do I have, and how many times can I watch? (Showtimes)
You can watch as many times as you like for 24 hours, starting at the showtime you picked. Pause, rewind, watch it again with someone. Just finish before the 24 hours are up.
How long do I have, and how many times can I watch? (On demand)
Your rental lasts 7 days from the moment you pay, and you can watch as many times as you like in that time. You can rent any time during the dates on the film page.
Do I have to watch at a certain time? (Showtimes)
You pick a start time when you buy. Your viewing window opens at that showtime and stays open for 24 hours. Showtimes are shown in your local time, so pick one that suits your evening.
Do I have to watch at a certain time? (On demand)
No. Start whenever you like, as long as it's within your 7 days.
I'm early. What happens if I open it before my showtime? (Showtimes)
You'll see a countdown on the film's page. The player appears on its own when your showtime begins.
What happens when my time runs out?
The film closes for your ticket. If something got in the way, like a technical problem or a late start, email support@trellisvirtualcinema.com. We can extend your viewing time.
Watching
Which devices can I watch on?
A laptop, phone, tablet, or your TV. Any up-to-date browser works: Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. For the TV, see On your TV below.
Are there subtitles?
the film doesn't have subtitles yet. If you need them, email support@trellisvirtualcinema.com and we'll let you know if that changes.
Can I pause and come back later?
Yes. Pause any time and come back whenever you like within your viewing time. On the same device and browser, the player offers to pick up where you stopped. On a different device, the film starts from the beginning, so skip ahead with the progress bar.
I paused for a long time and now it won't play
Refresh the page and press play again. For security, the player link refreshes each time you open the page.
How do I make it full screen?
Press the full-screen symbol at the bottom right of the player. On a phone, turning it sideways helps too.
Can I download it to watch offline?
No, sorry. We know a long flight is exactly when you'd want it. The film streams rather than downloads, so you'll need an internet connection while you watch.
On your TV
What are my options?
There are three good ways: 1. An HDMI cable from your laptop to the TV. It's the most reliable way, every time, and any inexpensive cable works. 2. AirPlay from an iPhone, iPad or Mac (in Safari) to an Apple TV, or to a Roku or smart TV that supports AirPlay. 3. Chromecast from Chrome on a computer or an Android phone to a Chromecast or Google TV.
AirPlay and Chromecast need your device and the TV on the same wifi network. That's the most common snag.
Where's the button that sends it to my TV?
Look in the player controls at the bottom right. You'll see the AirPlay icon in Safari on Apple devices, or the Cast icon in Chrome, once a TV on your wifi answers. If you don't see either, check that both devices are on the same wifi, then refresh the page.
Can I use screen mirroring or a phone-to-HDMI adapter?
Yes. Mirroring your whole screen (Screen Mirroring on iPhone, iPad or Mac, or Cast or Smart View on Android) and Lightning or USB-C to HDMI adapters both work. Turn the phone sideways, go full screen, and keep the screen awake while the film plays.
It casts, but the film never starts
Sometimes the TV shows the title and then just sits there loading. That means the cast connected but the TV is refusing the video. You have two ways around it: mirror your whole screen instead, or use an HDMI cable, which never argues.
Can I use my smart TV's built-in browser?
Honestly, TV browsers are the least reliable way to watch, so we steer people away from them. AirPlay, Chromecast or an HDMI cable will treat you much better.
What about Fire TV or Roku?
Newer Roku devices support AirPlay, so use the AirPlay steps above. Fire TV doesn't support AirPlay or Chromecast on its own. Use an HDMI cable, or mirror your screen if your Fire TV supports it.
Gifting
How do I give the film to someone?
Choose Buy as a gift on the film's page. Enter your friend's name and email address, and add a note if you like. Then pay as usual. As soon as your payment clears, we'll email them their ticket, with your note.
How does my friend watch?
They open the gift email and sign in on Trellis Virtual Cinema with the email address you entered. We'll email them a one-time code, and the film is in their account under Tickets. They don't need a password or an account first.
Who picks the showtime? (Showtimes)
Your friend picks their own showtime when they open the gift.
When does a gift rental start? (On demand)
Your friend's 7 days start the first time they press play.
Can I send gifts to more than one person?
Yes. Each gift goes to one email address, so send one gift per person. Two friends, two gifts, two tickets of their own.
Does buying a gift give me a ticket too?
No, a gift belongs to the person you send it to. If you want to watch as well, buy a ticket for yourself too.
My friend didn't get the gift email
Ask them to check spam and promotions, and make sure you typed their address correctly. If it's still missing, email support@trellisvirtualcinema.com with your order details and we'll send it again, or move the gift to the right address.
Can I share my ticket with someone in another home?
A ticket is for one household. Gather everyone around one screen as often as you like. For a friend in another home, send them a gift, so they get a ticket of their own.
Payments and refunds
Is my payment safe?
Yes. Payment goes through Shopify's secure checkout, so your card details never touch our pages and we never store them.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit and debit cards. Your checkout may also show options like Shop Pay, Apple Pay or Google Pay, depending on your device.
Where's my receipt?
Shopify emails a receipt right after checkout. If it hasn't appeared, check spam first. You can also see your order any time under Account, then Tickets.
I have a discount code
Enter it in the discount box at checkout. If a code came in a link, opening the link applies it for you.
What's your refund policy?
All ticket sales are final. But if something goes wrong with your screening, email support@trellisvirtualcinema.com. A real person will make it right, whether that means fixing the problem or extending your viewing time.
My card was declined
No money has left your account. A declined attempt never becomes a charge, though your bank may show a pending line for a day or two that clears on its own. Try again, try another card, or call your bank. If it keeps refusing, email support@trellisvirtualcinema.com.
What currency am I charged in?
Prices are in US dollars. If your card uses another currency, your bank converts it and may add a small fee.
Where can I watch the film?
the film is available in worldwide.
It says the film isn't available in my country
Sorry, the film can only be watched in worldwide. That's usually because of distribution agreements for that title. If you're in one of those countries and still see this, you may be using a VPN or private relay, which can make it look like you're somewhere else. Turn it off, refresh the page, and try again. Still stuck? Email support@trellisvirtualcinema.com.
Trouble
The player won't load, or the film stutters
- Refresh the page and press play again.
- If it plays for a few seconds and stops, open the settings in the player and pick a lower quality, like 720p or 480p.
- Try another browser. Chrome and Safari are the most dependable.
- On wifi, move closer to your router.
Those fixes solve most playback trouble. If none of them work, email support@trellisvirtualcinema.com. We'll make sure you get to watch the film.
It says I can't watch this film right now
That usually means one of three things: 1. You're signed in with a different email address from the one you used at checkout. Sign out and sign in with that one. 2. [Showtimes] Your viewing window hasn't opened yet (you'll see a countdown), or it has closed. 3. [On demand] Your 7-day rental has ended.
If none of those fit, email support@trellisvirtualcinema.com with the email address you bought with.
I see a black screen when I press play
Refresh the page first. If you use a VPN or an ad or privacy blocker, try turning it off for this site, or open the page in a private or incognito window. If it plays there, a browser setting or extension is getting in the way.
